Because our hemp extract is a natural supplement that comes from a plant, it has a taste that some consider to be bitter and strong. While many of our customers like the flavor, some would rather find a way to mask it. If that’s you, try mixing the oil in honey, applesauce, or a smoothie. Another great option is to try our hemp extract in capsule form. These are easy to swallow with a glass of water or your favorite juice.
Last but not least, the starring ingredient. I have both variations (Olive Oil and Mint Chocolate) of Charlotte's Web, and I've used both in my coffee mixtures. The Olive Oil flavor is invisible among the mix-ins. When I first began making my CBD coffees at home, I started in baby steps, using just a few drops and eventually graduating to one full dropper. It's totally up to each individual, and while the packaging says one to three droppers per day is recommended, I've found my sweet spot to be just the morning single. I simply squeeze a full dropper into my blender with the rest of my ingredients, add a few ice cubes, and blend until smooth. I'm obsessed with the Mint Chocolate flavor and also add it to smoothies. We do sell pure, isolated cannabidiol in crystalline form. This CBD isolate is somewhere between 96% and 99.9% pure. While all the Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for our CBD Isolate reveal cannabidiol levels at 90%-100%, we are almost completely certain that every batch of our CBD Isolate extract has been more than 99% pure. The deviation in results is due to instances of unreliable third-party testing.

Note that the Cannabis sativa L. our growers harvest is a type of carefully cultivated hemp. Hemp is a legal plant that the USDA defines as any Cannabis sativa L. variety containing THC concentrations of no more than 0.3%. This means the plant produces little to no THC, the phyto-cannabinoid found in marijuana that causes a feeling of intoxication.

In the U.S., we live in a culture where more is often perceived as being better.  And it’s easy, without even thinking about it, to apply that approach to CBD dosing. But when it comes to CBD, more is not necessarily better. In fact, for many, less CBD is more effective. One way to determine your optimal dosage is to start with a small amount of CBD for a couple weeks and then slowly increase your dosage, carefully taking note of symptoms, until you’re seeing the results you want.
Like many of my fellow New York City residents, I’ve recently grown aware of the presence of CBD in my surroundings. In particular, CBD at coffee shops. It started when some friends of mine were discussing a pilgrimage out to Flower Power Coffee Co., known for its “artisanal CBD-infused coffee.” Then, at a fancy matcha cart I went to for Instagram-related purposes, I noticed that alongside health food add-ins like oat milk was the option to include a one-dollar shot of CBD. I didn’t do it, because weed in most forms tends to make me sleepy and it was 1 p.m. on a Saturday in the middle of Brooklyn's trendiest neighborhood.
We also rated the product based on the type of CBD they used: isolate, full-spectrum decarb, broad-spectrum, or distillate. There’s a lot of debate around what is actually best, but our first decision was to give points to CBD oil that contains a range of cannabinoids. While there are certainly people with good reasons for choosing an isolate, there’s a lot of good evidence that CBD works better in combination with other cannabinoids (this is called the “entourage effect”).

While the CBD latte dosage varies from coffee shop to coffee shop, the range seems to fall between two to 15 drops, or approximately 20 to 30 milligrams, says Blessing. That’s a lot less than what’s been shown to work in clinical trials for various conditions, which makes Blessing skeptical that a CBD latte could produce any noticeable effect. “There’s no evidence whatsoever that a small amount of CBD is actually doing anything at all,” she says. “An analogy I give sometimes is, you wouldn’t take 2 mg of ibuprofen. It doesn’t do anything.”


Clancy says his dose estimates are based on a book called CBD: A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis: Healing Without the High. Still, there are many reasons why patients may prefer to avoid all THC.
